Short Course on Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE)
Virtual | Go-To-Webinar | Two-part course
Taught: September 24-25, 2020
Cost: US$295.00/pp
Instructor: Mr. Barry Papke

In this professional development course, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) expert Barry Papke provides a thorough introduction to MBSE. The course will cover systems modeling using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) on day one and the Enterprise Architecture using the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) on day two.

The introduction to SysML will provide a tutorial on its fundamentals of MBSE. Students will learn the key elements of the language syntax, semantics diagram types and perform a small hands-on lab exercise. This section also addresses how modeling with SysML applies to the SE Lifecycle (Systems Engineering "V") and the fundamental differences between document-based methods to model-based methods.

UAF is an Enterprise Architecture modeling language used to define enterprises in architecture frameworks such as DODAF, MODAF, DNDAF, etc. In the introduction to the Framework, students will receive an overview of the differences between Enterprise Architecture and System Design, the roll of Enterprise Architecture in the SE Lifecycle with an overview of the framework itself.

The class will not include hands-on use of the modeling tools, but will include an instructor led demonstration of both SysML and UAF model examples.
