Wei Yan

Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics

After graduating with his B.S. in aerospace engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China, Wei Yan returned as a PhD candidate under Professor Pinqi Xia's research group. In 2017, he was a part of the undergraduate team that won first place for their AURORA design in the AHS Student Design Competition.

What are some of your current projects or research interests?

As a graduate student at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, my main major is helicopter dynamics analysis and control, learning how to reduce the vibration level of helicopter by control. Helicopter vibration has always been a major factor restricting its development, so I hope that I can make a breakthrough in this area by building a new model of vibration reduction system.

Currently, my main work is the overall design and performance analysis of the coaxial unmanned helicopter. The goal is to design a new coaxial unmanned helicopter to meet some special needs and to verify the prototype. This is a very challenging job, but of course, very fun.
