Orazio Pinti

University of Southern California, Los Angeles

Orazio Pinti is a PhD student at the University of Southern California, working under the supervision of Prof. Assad Oberai. He received a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. from the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy, specializing in fluid dynamics and mathematical modeling. His current research is focused on the development of multi-fidelity modeling techniques, with application to vertical flight. In particular, he is interested in studying the aerodynamics interaction of rotors working in close proximity. He works in tight collaboration with Prof. Gandhi’s Center for Mobility with Vertical Lift (MOVE) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His career goal is to pursue the advancement of rotorcraft modeling and simulation using machine learning, physics- and data-based multi-fidelity models. With the growing interest in eVTOL vehicles, he hopes that his research can help inform the design of these aircraft, improving their aerodynamic efficiency and push to a faster development and discovery process.
