AHS Announces New Officers For The Board Of Directors

Alexandria, VA — AHS International – The Vertical Flight Society chairman Philip J. Dunford, Chief Operating Officer, Boeing Military Aircraft, today announced the results of the society’s general elections for officers and directors for the period July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.

AHS board of directors chairman Philip J. Dunford, president BG Stephen D. Mundt, USA (Ret.), Vice President, Business Development, EADS North America and secretary-treasurer John Garrison, President & CEO, Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. will serve their second term on the board. NASA’s Susan A. Gorton, Principal Investigator, NASA Subsonic Rotary Wing, continues for a second year as AHS technical director. The Forum 68 technical chair is Dr. Joe Horn, Associate Professor, The Pennsylvania State University and the Forum 68 deputy session chair is David Popelka, Manager, Dynamics, Aeromechanics & Loads, Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.

The AHS executive committee, which exercises all the powers of the board of directors when not in session, includes the chairman, president and secretary-treasurer and by invitation the AHS technical director and AHS executive director.

Society members also elected three regional vice presidents and three directors-at-large. They include midwest region vice president Professor David Peters, Washington University at St. Louis; northeast region vice president William Welsh, Chief Dynamics & Internal Acoustics, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp.; southern region vice president, Paul Bogosian, executive vice president, Science and Engineering Services Inc. The elected directors-at-large include Professor Swami Karunamoorthy, St. Louis University with the midwest region; Dr. Michael S. Torok, Vice President, Chief Engineer, Marine Corps Programs, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. with the northeast region; and Jack Van Kirk, Chief, Technical Management Div., US Army, PM Aviation Systems.
