AHS ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICERS FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Alexandria, VA — AHS International – The Vertical Flight Technical Society chair Philip J. Dunford, Chief Operating Officer, Boeing Military Aircraft, today announced the results of the society’s general elections for officers and directors for the period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
AHS board of directors welcomes Stephen D. Mundt, Vice President, Business Development, EADS North America as the new chair, John Garrison, President & CEO, Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. as the new president, Ed Birtwell, General Manager, GE Aviation as secretary-treasurer. Dan Newman, The Boeing Company, Senior Technical Fellow – Airplane Product Development, was appointed as AHS’s new technical director.
The AHS executive committee, which exercises all the powers of the board of directors when not in session, includes the chair, president, secretary-treasurer and the AHS technical director and AHS executive director. Mundt and Garrison are currently completing terms as president and secretary-treasurer of the AHS Board of Directors, respectively.
Society members also elected four regional vice presidents and four directors-at-large. They include Mideast Regional Vice President Stanley Orr, The Boeing Company; Southeast Regional Vice President Ming Lau, US Army AATD; Southwest Regional Vice President Mike Shaw, Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc.; and Western Regional Vice President Barry Lakinsmith, U.S. Army AFDD. Elected Directors-at-Large include Mideast Director Marc Sheffler, The Boeing Company (ret.); Southeast Director Karen Jackson, NASA Langley; Southwest Director Catherine Ferrie, Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc.; and Larry Plaster, The Boeing Company (ret.). Lakinsmith, Sheffler, Jackson, Ferrie and Plaster are currently completing prior terms on the AHS Board of Directors.
