The Vertical Flight Society's 76th Annual Forum and Technology Display will be held online Oct. 5-8. Several events are being held in advance of the official Forum 76 week of activities.

Two short courses — sponsored by Continuum Dynamics, Inc. (CDI) — will be held two weeks prior to the Forum both presented in two half-day parts: The Short Course on Electric VTOL Design will be held on Sept. 21-22 and the Short Course on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) on Sept. 24-25. Each course is taught by a leading expert and costs $295/pp for VFS members (or $325/pp for non-members).

Dr. Mark Tischler for 2020 Nikolsky LectureshipThe week before the Forum, on Wed., Sept. 30, VFS will be broadcasting two major events from Forum 76 for free on our YouTube channel:

The 40th Annual Nikolsky Lecture — sponsored by GE Aviation — will be presented by Dr. Mark B. Tischler, Senior Technologist, U.S. Army. This lecture, "Flight Control Technology Advancements and Challenges for Future Rotorcraft," will be held on Sept. 30 at 12:00–1:30 pm EDT (UTC-4). VFS is broadcasting it on YouTube to maximize the impact of this signature technical lecture. The extended time will allow for additional audience questions.

The prestigious Nikolsky Lectureship is awarded to “an individual who has a highly distinguished career in vertical flight aircraft research and development and is skilled at communicating technical knowledge and experience.” Tischler will review recent advancements and lay out his vision for future developments.

Howard Hughes Award 2018 The 76th Annual Grand Awards Ceremony — sponsored by Bell — will be held on Sept. 30 at 2:00–3:00 pm EDT (UTC-4). Plan to tune in to this YouTube video premiere and help honor the incredible accomplishments of the 12 individual and 11 group award winners, as well as the 29 VFS Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarship winners, Robert L. Lichten Award winner and more!

Since 1944, the Society has paid tribute to the world's outstanding leaders in industry, government and academia. This year, VFS is pleased to present the most prestigious awards in vertical flight to a global audience.
