Abstract:
Sikorsky, Boeing, and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center are developing the most technically advanced Joint Multi-Role (JMR) rotorcraft designed to meet aggressive Future Vertical Lift requirements. The Sikorsky-Boeing team has designed and is currently fabricating the SB>1 DEFIANTTM Technology Demonstrator (TD) Aircraft to integrate and mature advanced technologies to demonstrate speed, maneuverability, and weight efficiency on a full-scale vertical lift platform. The JMR TD is currently being assembled to support upcoming flight testing. The JMR TD fuselage and empennage are light-weight, hybrid carbon/epoxy designs which were fabricated and successfully ground tested in the past year clearly demonstrating an ample safe envelope for flight test. Contained herein is a discussion of test load derivation, test details, load calibration for flight test, and test data correlation validating the JMR TD analysis and design.
