This paper seeks to position Product Line Engineering (PLe) in the context of an enterprise which endeavors to achieve improved business execution outcomes resulting from the implementation of a Product Line Enterprise (PLE) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This topic is relevant to the vertical lift community in that it is one of the major enabling approaches to improved acquisition execution of the Future Vertical Lift program (FVL). It is crucial that the foundational tenets of the PLe are extended to the product line management at the enterprise level to fully realize the business promise. Failing to connecting elements of the critical chain may result in diminished business benefits.
