TVF 2024 Schedule Overview
TVF 2024 Final Program
Short Course on Electric VTOL Design
The Transformative Vertical Flight (TVF) 2024 meeting will take place Feb. 6–8 in Santa Clara, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley and features more than 140 speakers on important progress on vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft and technology.
TVF 2024 includes three main activities:
The 6th Decennial VFS Aeromechanics Specialists' Conference marks the 50th Anniversary of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter’s first decennial forum on emerging aeromechanics challenges and solution methods for future VTOL aircraft. Aeromechanics encompasses the technical disciplines of dynamics, aero-dynamics, acoustics, and flight mechanics, all of which are strong drivers in the vehicle design process. Papers will be presented in areas related to rotorcraft/VTOL aeromechanics, including both crewed and uncrewed aircraft, using either conventional and/or electrified propulsion systems.
- Dr. Noah Schiller, Project Manager, Revolutionary Vertical Lift Technology, NASA
- Mr. Arnaud Le Pape, Rotorcraft Program Director, ONERA
- Dr. Buvana Jayaraman, Branch Chief, Computational Aeromechanics, U.S. Army DEVCOM AvMC
- Dr. Marilena Pavel, Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering, Technical University of Delft
- Dr. Yasutada Tanabe, Senior Researcher, JAXA Aeronautical Technology Directorate
- Dr. Håvard Grip, Chief Engineer of Mars Sample Recovery Helicopters, Jet Propulsion Laboratory
- Mr. Mark Scott, Consulting Engineer, Science & Technology Corporation
- Dr. Monica Syal,Head of Flight Sciences, AIBOT
- Dr. James Wang, Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University Singapore
- Dr. Geoffrey Bower, Chief Engineer, Archer Aviation
- Dr. Gregor Veble Mikić, Flight Research & Flight Physics Lead, Joby Aviation
The 11th Annual Electric VTOL Symposium includes invited presentations from leaders in this exciting field. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn about and discuss the latest advancements in eVTOL, and the challenges that still remain. Invited presentations from all areas of eVTOL will be discussed, from researchers and leaders in academia, industry and government agencies from around the globe.
The eVTOL Symposium includes insights from executives at the leading eVTOL aircraft and subsystem developers, as well as key leaders from US Air Force AFWERX, FAA, DARPA, NASA and other important government and industry stakeholders, including leaders from leading eVTOL companies like AIR, Alaka'i, Archer, Boeing, Jaunt, Joby, Overair, Piasecki, Pivotal and Wisk!
The Short Course on Electric VTOL Design will take place in-person on Monday, Feb. 5, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Taught by Dr. James Wang, this annual 1-day short course is always a big hit! See more details on the eVTOL Design Short Course
