Sage Herz
Ohio State University
Sage Herz is a PhD candidate in Aerospace Engineering at the Ohio State University and a graduate research associate in the Aerodynamic Flow Control and Advanced Diagnostics (AFCAD) group, advised by Dr. Matthew McCrink. Her research, supported by the Vertical Lift Research Center of Excellence (VLRCOE), focuses on flight testing of multirotor uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and developing physics-informed models for vehicles operating in complex flow environments, including near boundaries and in wind disturbances. Her flight-testing work aims to improve multirotor vehicle models for real-world application. Sage received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College in 2021. In 2025, she interned with the Flight Dynamics branch at NASA’s Langley Research Center, and was named a 2025 Amelia Earhart Fellow. After completing her degree, she hopes to continue advancing flight testing methodologies for multirotor vehicles, with emphasis on leveraging experimental data to enable more robust modeling and autonomous control capabilities.
