Technical Committees
The Vertical Flight Society’s Technical Committees are specialized groups dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation, and collaboration across all disciplines of vertical flight. Their mission is to guide the development, understanding, and integration of vertical flight technologies by bringing together experts from industry, government, and academia. The committees develop timely, high quality technical information that is disseminated to the vertical flight community through VFS technical conference events and the Annual Forum. In addition, they develop and judge annual competitions such as the Student Design Competition and the new Design-Build-Vertical Flight competition.
Each committee focuses on a specific technical domain—see the full list below and download the Technical Committee Charter document for detailed information. Together, these committees serve as the technical backbone of the Vertical Flight Society, driving innovation and supporting the advancement and safe integration of vertical flight systems and applications.
The committees are comprised of the Society’s most dedicated members from around the globe and who are experts in their technical field. Serving on a Vertical Flight Society Technical Committee is an excellent way to stay current on the advances in a specific discipline, while interacting and sharing your expertise within the same professional field. You must be a current member in good standing of the Society in order to serve on a technical committee — if you are not currently a member, join at https://vtol.org/vfs-works-for-you/your-member-benefits.
