About the Journal
The Journal of the American Helicopter Society (JAHS) is the leading peer-reviewed technical publication dedicated to vertical flight. Published quarterly by the Vertical Flight Society (VFS). JAHS showcases original, high-quality research that advances the science and technology of all forms of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) technology.
The Journal covers the full-spectrum of VTOL platforms – including helicopters, tiltrotors, advanced rotorcraft, and electric VTOL (eVTOL) aircraft – spanning both conventional and emerging technologies. With a mission to advance vertical flight technology across all domains – civil, commercial, and military. JAHS serves as a critical resource for engineers, researchers, educators, and policymakers shaping the future of vertical flight.

Are you a VFS member?
- Are you already an online Journal subscriber? Just log in to My VFS and click the link under “Subscription information.”
- Not a subscriber but want to be? Log in to My VFS and click the link “access your profile online.” For only $75 USD a year, you too can get online access to 70 years of the Journal, the world’s premier vertical flight technical publication!
- Not a subscriber but just want to download a few articles? Go to our online host to see what’s available, then contact VFS headquarters to purchase your articles at the Member price of $15 USD each.
- Is your organization a subscriber? Contact your library or internal publications manager to find out how to log in to download papers at no extra charge. If your university, company or agency is not an institutional subscriber, have them contact VFS Membership at 1-703-684-6777 x107 to subscribe.

Rates: The online Journal is hosted on Ingenta's IngentaConnect. Please read the licensing contract carefully, and submit the completed document to VFS Headquarters to initialize institutional online subscriptions. Non-subscribers can purchase individual articles for $30 on IngentaConnect. VFS members should contact VFS headquarters (see below) to order individual articles at $15 each.
