Aaron Crawford

Georgia Institute of Technology

Aaron Crawford is a PhD candidate at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2020. Continuing his studies brought him to Georgia Tech where he is a graduate researcher under Dr. Marilyn Smith. His research to date has focused on the computational modeling of Fluidic Active Flow Control devices including fluidic oscillators and synthetic jets, and how computational modeling techniques best compare with experimental data. Additionally, he has completed work through internships with the Army Research Lab Weapons and Material Research Directorate, and Army Aviation and Missile Command focusing on computational UAV predictions and wingtip propeller predictions. His future research involves the understanding and prediction of unsteady loads and fatigue on small scale urban air mobility vehicles. After completing his PhD, Aaron plans to continue researching computational aeromechanics, striving to improve the understanding and computational abilities in this field, and perhaps one day even teach it.
